About the Artist
Meet Shelby Gold
As an artist I love variety. My work includes sculpture, painting, design, costume construction, puppet making, and I have a special love for creating fantastical headwear in the form of floral crowns, clips, and fabulous hats. I draw inspiration from the joyful artistry of nature, particularly flowers as they infuse a lot of my work with their beauty. I am inspired by the whimsical worlds of wonder created by dreamers and creatives, Mr. Rogers, Jim Henson, Brian Froud, Shel Silverstein, Michael Ende, Terry Gilliam, Baz Luchman, Vintage Disney and more. I delight in repurposing old forgotten things into sparkling new treasures, embodying a playful and transformative approach to all of the art I make. Each creation is a celebration of joyful imagination and whimsy, offering glimpses into enchanting worlds where imagination comes to life, and the possibilities are endless.
Where Art Meets Imagination
Behind the Magic
Every crown, costume, and character starts as a sketch, a spark, or a fleeting daydream. My process blends hands-on craft with a love for history, nature, and fantasy. Whether it’s hand-wiring a floral crown or sculpting a horse head for the drag stage, I pour intention and joy into every step.
Inspired by the celestial, the botanical, and the theatrical — this is where whimsy becomes real.
“I believe in the kind of magic you can wear.”
A Living Dream
Capstone Performance
My final exhibition for my Art degree was a performance-based exploration of movement, costume, and story. This project embodies my artistic philosophy: a blend of fantasy, florals, and theatrical grace.
"I love making things that bring joyful inspiration. My art is a collection of cosmic creations full of wonder, whimsy and magic, enchanted with love, and uniquely designed to enhance the world's shine!"
